Bert & Ernie go to Vegas

“Data Wrangling” takes on a whole new meaning when it comes to shooting on the Canon 5D, the Red Camera and other file based cameras. Instead of tape, we now shoot to CF cards that require downloading. The process breaks down like this: after every scene, the video from a CF card is downloaded. In order to back up the footage, the card is plugged in to a card reader attached to a computer. Using the ShotPut Pro software, the video is then downloaded onto an external hard drive where the files are relabeled to better assist the Editors. Once the footage is downloaded, the card can be reformatted and used again.

LBP has two CalDigit VR two drive RAID array hard drives (affectionately named Bert and Ernie) that travel to all of our shoots and this week, they got to go to Vegas!  The LBP video production team headed out to Las Vegas to shoot their new Brown Hand Center.  With Bert and Ernie all packed up and ready go, we boarded our plane and headed out. They survived their first flight and spent all day in Pre Op Room 5 patiently anticipating their next download. The team was able to capture general footage of the clinic with clinic personnel and patients at various stages of the treatment process, from initial exam to final surgery. The footage will be used for both advertising and marketing purposes.  After a hard day’s work, Bert, our 2 Terabyte drive and Ernie, our 4 Terabyte drive, headed out to the casinos. Just kidding! They’re much too young to gamble. Back on a plane they went! Bert and Ernie have happily returned to their LBP home full of footage and ready to go. Who knows where they’ll end up next!
